Our Cast of Characters

Although we've changed the real names of our family members to protect our privacy, having a better idea of who we are will make understanding our stories easier. Here's our current cast of characters:

Family Members

• FosterAbba - A female 40-something techie/musician. Nominally the "Dad" of the family as it were.
  
• FosterEema - A female 30-something writer/techie. Definitely the "Mom" of the family.
• "Ana" - A 16-year-old girl who was (un)lucky enough to be our first foster placement. She came to live with us during the second week of June 2006. She ran away one night at the end of August, was returned to us for one night about three weeks later, and ran away again the following day.
  
• "Belinda" - A 12-year-old girl who became our second foster placement when she came to live with us just in time for the July 4th weekend. Unfortunately, she was our first blown placement and only stayed 11 full days in our home because her behavior was simply too extreme for us to manage.
• "Danielle" - Our third placement, she came to us in early September. She was 10, nearly 11 years old, and arrived with substantial academic delays.
  

We also have several crazy parrots that add noise, chaos, mess and love to our home.

Important Others

• "Grandma J" - An elderly woman who lives in a nearby convalescent home. We befriended her while volunteering, and we make frequent visits.
  
• "Jack" and "Jill" - A couple we met during our foster parent training class with whom we have become fast friends. They have three children, "Eenie," "Meenie," and "Miney."
• The Screw-up Fairy - Unlike the Tooth Fairy who brings good things, The Screw-up Fairy is the sadistic bitch who messes things up when they are otherwise going well. She's the one who causes your car to have a dead battery when you are scheduled to leave for an important appointment, and causes the washing machine to fail when you have nothing clean to wear.
