Hello, Hello, Hello...

Earlier this year, my partner and I began what we expect to be the wild and fulfilling journey to become foster (or possibly adotive) parents. This blog will outline our journey, and describe both the challenges and sucesses of becoming a foster family. We know that, like all parents, we are in for a turbulent ride, but we hope we can make a difference in the lives of children.

We are a same-gender, Jewish couple living somewhere in the United States. Our user names, FosterEema and FosterAbba, come from the Hebrew words for Mommy and Daddy. We have decided to use these pseudonyms to obscure our real identities and exact location, so that we can speak freely and honesly about our experiences, while still protecting our privacy. In some cases, we may obscure some details to protect the confidentiality of our future foster children. However, the stories we write will be as true as the bounds of our privacy allow.

We hope to make this blog a resource for both current and prospective foster parents. It seems there is a lot of very unbalanced information about foster and adoptive parenting on the Internet, with the majority of it being negative. We hope that our blog will provide a more balanced viewpoint, and will encourage others to participate.
